The early interest in space, form and light

My interest in media and film has developed from very early on. In my younger years I was fascinated by the technology of 3D animation, which was very new back then. Soon I developed the skills to master many of the highly complex software programs neccessary to create those computer generated images. A special offer for students made it possible for me to acquire a license for the program "Maya", which today is the industry standard software that is used to create many of the stunning visual special effect animations known from big Hollywood productions. That way I developed in an autodidactic way a special sense of three dimensional space, light and shadow, of timing and motion sequences.
It lies in the nature of generating digital images that without planning and absolute precision it would not be possible to achieve impressive results. Furthermore it is neccessary to create something from nothing which demands to develop a great deal of creative energy. Even today these skills shape my every-day-work.

Human interaction drove me to my studies of film production

Although I felt I had a lot of talent in 3D animation, the thought of working on the computer all day long was not very inspiring to me. So I decided to study film & television production, because in modern film making there are many sections overlapping with special visual effects used in film production. I was especially fascinated by all the tools and possibilities there are in the real world to capture imagery and sound. You can fill it with sense and beauty that would not exist without the creative process of putting together pieces that were not connected before.
It was during my studies that I learned the professional work with camera, lights, sound design and especially people and actors.

Already since my school years I have developed a big interest in internet, web design and programming, parallel to my creative work. So it was possible for me to make a living as a web developer after my studies and keep my creative work free from financial constraints.
